Everyone has at least one favorite piece of clothing. It could be a comfortably worn pair of jeans. A jacket. A shirt. Or even an accessory, like a tie or cufflinks. The point is, there’s always that one item that you look at and enjoy wearing. Every time. I have a few favorites, in pretty much every category: Sweaters. Suits. Ties. I even have a favorite pair of socks.
Given that, I want to take some time on Fridays to focus on some of those favorites and what makes me enjoy them so much.
For today’s item, I’m going to pick an item that I’ve had for over twenty – that’s not a typo – years.
And when I say “favorite,” I mean that it is “Number One” among my collection. It is an Eddie Bauer five-button henley sweater and it was given to me by a good friend as a Christmas present twenty-two or -three years ago. It is both comfortable and versatile, which is a great combination for a favored piece of clothing. It’s perfect for the office, an evening out, or just hanging out at home. It has gained a little bit of battle-scarring over the years, but it’s held up remarkably well for its age.
